- A day to relax and get to know the city. A boat tour of Paraty Bay, visiting paradise beaches and islands. Lunch on one of the islands. In the evening, a tour of the historic center. The small beach town of Paraty is like a museum in a tropical paradise. The city boasts one of the finest collections of 18th-century Portuguese colonial buildings. In the late 1700s, gold from Minas Gerais was transported through the mountains to Paraty and then shipped to Portugal. Later, a better route via Rio was found, which helped the city of Paraty preserve its original charm.
