What you'll do on day 18
- After breakfast, you'll embark on an exciting tour to Perito Moreno Glacier, considered one of the most easily accessible glaciers in the world and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perito Moreno is a massive glacier, equivalent to a twenty-five-story building, covered by a 60-meter layer of moving ice. You can observe the glacier from numerous viewpoints located nearby on the shore. Sometimes, it becomes challenging to distinguish the horizon line between the ice cap and the sky. Approximately every 4 years, Perito Moreno Glacier blocks the channel between the Argentino and Rico Lakes, obstructing the flow of water from one reservoir to the other. The accumulated meltwater in Lake Rico creates significant pressure on the ice, causing the ice dam to collapse, forming a tunnel within the ice mass. Over the course of two to three days, the tunnel erodes, and a massive arch collapses into the water with a thunderous roar. This phenomenon is one of the most interesting spectacles in the world. It is recommended to bring a packed lunch, and there will be an opportunity to dine at the park's restaurant.
