If you're flying from an Indian winter to −30°C Lapland, packing right is the difference between a magical trip and a miserable one. Good news: it's simpler than it looks, and we provide the heavy gear.

The 3-layer system

  1. Base layer — thermal top & bottoms (merino or synthetic, never cotton).
  2. Mid layer — fleece or wool jumper for insulation.
  3. Outer layer — windproof, waterproof shell. For activities we provide heavy Arctic overalls and boots.

What we usually provide

On most safaris you'll get thermal overalls, snow boots, warm gloves and a balaclava/hat for the activity. That means you don't need to buy expensive −30°C gear in India — pack smart layers instead.

What you must bring

  • Thermal base layers (2 sets) and warm wool socks (several pairs)
  • Fleece/wool mid-layers
  • Warm hat, neck gaiter, thin liner gloves (for phone use)
  • Lip balm, moisturiser, sunglasses (snow glare is real)
  • Power bank — cold drains phone batteries fast
  • Any regular medication, plus travel insurance documents
